The (Soucy Families Association) Association des familles Soucy is a corporation legally incorporated in the Province of Quebec under the Companies Act. The founding meeting took place at La Pocatière in the region of Kamouraska, on June 4, 2000. About thirty people came from the regions of Montreal, the Laurentians, the Montérégie, the Mauricie, Quebec, Chaudière-Appalaches and of Bas-Saint-Laurent in Quebec as well as regions of Madawaska and Moncton from the Province of New Brunswick to lay the foundations of this association.
In addition to its incorporation with the Ministry of Financial Institutions of the Government of Quebec, the AFS obtained its membership in the Fédération des familles souches du Québec where it established its permanent head office. By the start of 2006, more than 200 people and organizations had joined the Association des familles Soucy.
The members come not only from Quebec, Acadia and the United States, but they also include Soucy residents from Germany, Belgium and France and especially in the departments of Seine-Maritime, Calvados and Eure. Anyone interested in the history and genealogy of the Soucy family can become members of the Association des familles Soucy either by getting involved in the pursuit of its objectives or simply by supporting by their contribution the work of the volunteers who are dedicated to serving members.
